“You don’t have to be the same person today that you were yesterday.” Once again FCCO Student Ministries took off on a journey through the backwoods of Maine to arrive at Moose River Outpost camp in Jackman, Maine for a week long camp run by our Life Bridge staff and volunteer staff here at FCCO this past June. The week consisted of fun-filled games like Mission Impossible, Survivor-type scavenger hunts/relays, and military-style kickball. We had other adventures including a pirates night where the students dressed like pirates and watched the Pirates of the Caribbean during the dinner hour. On Wednesday we all piled into buses and headed out on a white-water rafting trip down the Kennebec River. Other activities for the week included crafts, learning survival and team building skills, kayaking, tubing, and paintball. But the best story to tell of the camping experience has to be how Christ worked in the hearts of the students. Our speaker Jim Trick really challenged the students to desire a changed heart and life change. He used several times in his talks the phrase “You don’t have to be the same person today that you were yesterday”. God really broke down barriers in the hearts of our students. Jim did a great job of allowing the students to make the decision to turn their lives over to God and spent time talking to many of our students into the wee hours of the morning the last few nights. Seven students made first time decisions to begin a relationship with Christ as their personal Savior. Seeds and actions were taken by many of the other students for recommitment and a desire for a closer relationship with God. We all were so blessed by what God did here at Moose River Outpost!!! God is at work all around us. Here we are standing at the beginning of the summer after this great experience. We would appreciate your prayers and support as we begin to follow through and encourage the students in the decisions that may have been made at camp. Pray for two major upcoming events for our student ministry. Next week is FCCO’s VBS program for our junior high students. Many of our high school students are also volunteering their time. Near the end of July we will be hosting a work-week in which our students will be serving our local community by painting the chapel. May God lead us to be relevant and in tune with how He continues to work in the lives of our students. Thanks for all your support!!!
